Holiday Event Invitation Design

As part of Mountain America Credit Union’s event committee, I was asked to design an invitation for our department’s annual Christmas party.
The event hosted about 30 attendees — including our VP, director, and managers — and the design needed to feel festive yet professional.

At the time, no theme had been selected, so I took the initiative to create three distinct visual concepts to help inspire one.
My goal was to design a cohesive, print-ready invitation that aligned with leadership expectations and represented our team culture.

1. Discovery & Collaboration

I collaborated with the event committee to collect key details:

  • Date, time, and venue

  • Tone of the event (formal vs. casual)

  • Print dimensions and turnaround time

Because there was no theme, I positioned this project as an opportunity to use visual exploration to guide creative alignment.

2. Concept Development

Within the first week, I produced three unique invitation designs exploring different styles:

  • Minimal Winter Elegance — cool blues, subtle snowflake accents, serif typography.

  • Classic Holiday Warmth — deep reds and golds, hand-lettered script, traditional layout.

  • Modern Festive Playfulness — bold shapes, geometric icons, and warm gradients.

Each option represented a potential event theme, helping the team visualize tone and décor direction.

3. Feedback & Iteration

After presenting the options, the team shared preferences for color balance and text readability.

We collectively decided that the third concept best represented the event’s spirit — lively, approachable, and modern.

I refined typography hierarchy, adjusted spacing, and integrated the finalized event theme once the committee confirmed it.

4. Finalization & Delivery

After internal approval, I sent the final file to my manager for review.

Minor copy edits were applied before preparing the print-ready version.

✅ Delivered to print two days ahead of schedule.
✅ Helped solidify the event’s overall theme through design direction.

5. Outcomes

  • Delivered 3 creative concepts within 2 weeks

  • Supported the committee in establishing a unified event theme

  • Final design printed on time and distributed to 30 attendees

  • Enhanced cross-department collaboration and creative alignment

6. Reflection

  • This project reminded me that design is not just about visuals — it’s about connection.

Working without an established theme challenged me to lead through creativity and adaptability, skills I use daily as a UX designer.

  • “Even a small internal design project can build shared excitement and set the tone for a memorable experience.”
